Teaching Hebrew as an additional language – from theory to practice (16 sessions, 32 academic hours).

Lecturer: Prof. Luba Charlap (PhD), Head of the Jerusalem Center for Textual  Studies, former Rector at Lifshitz College, researcher and linguist, developer of curricula in teaching Hebrew as an additional language in MOFET Institute, consultant for the teaching of Hebrew in the Diaspora and in the Arab-Israeli sector

Tools and hands-on workshop (14 sessions, 28 academic hours)

Lecturer: Mrs. Rachel Naparstek (MA), former Lecturer at Bar-Ilan University and  MOFET Institute

Time:  Sunday evenings, 8:00-9:30 p.m. (Israel time)

    1. Hebrew Language Structure, Its Development and Revival
    2. Different approaches in teaching foreign languages (L2) and in teaching Hebrew as an additional language
    3. "The Hebrew in Hebrew" method (the Ulpan method) – principles and implementation
    4. Teaching Hebrew in Jewish Education in the Diaspora in Our Time: Problems, Challenges and Directions
    5. Critical presentation of curricula, teaching methods, and materials, including computerized teaching and the use of Internet tools
    6. Classification tests and assessment methods
    7. Exercises and projects in different areas of the language (demonstrations and experience)

Admission requirements:

    1. Academic or equivalent professional background
    2. Knowledge at an advanced level of the Hebrew language (vocabulary, forms, and syntax)

Certificate: Students who successfully complete the program (intermediate assignments + final assignments with a grade point average of 70) will receive a certificate from the Jerusalem Center for Textual Studies.

Price: 3380 NIS + 300 NIS Registration   fee
